Cry You My Song

A short sad tale of a bitter lost love.
I'm closing the dream inside my mind,
It's so hard to remember the good days,
They're long gone and I can't bring them back
By peering through the curtain of yesterday,
And I cry my song for your return
But that curtain will never rise again,
The play is over and the audience have gone
And it seems that you went with them.

I was a one hit wonder, a one night stand,
A knee trembler round the back of the beer tent,
The fool, the jester, a hobby of sorts,
I was all of these things in their content,
A collection piece for your trophy chest
For you to show off to your friends,
You laughed as I cried my bitter tears,
Your apathy, a veil of indifference.

You felt no remorse for your scornful words
That lacerated my brain with their hatred,
The poisonous tongue of twisted neglect
Held nothing of mine to be sacred,
You shattered my heart into a million pieces
And I can't fit them all back together,
But what's done is done, this love I shall mourn
And I'll cry you my song forever.
