Critics Slam Britney Spears’ VMA Performance

Spears’ performance at Sunday night’s VMA’s has been touted as the comeback of the year. Spears opened the show with her latest single "Gimme More" and left the crowd less than pleased. She wore a sparkly black bikini and seemed anything less than confident as she lip synched to the song lyrics. A source said, "Britney was supposed to wear a matching corset that she opted out of wearing at the last minute. She was just plain nervous because of all the hype and she’s embarrassed."

In the past Spears has put on excellent performances during the VMA’s, but last night’s show was a different story. Comedian Sarah Silverman said after the performance, "Was that incredible? Britney Spears, everyone. Wow. She is amazing. She is 25 years old and she’s already accomplished everything she’s going to accomplish in her life. It’s mind blowing." She also called Spears’ children Sean Preston and Jayden James "the most adorable mistakes you will ever see." Yikes!

Numerous people were not impressed with her performance including Akon who said, "That could have been better. She needed to focus more. She looked nervous and I think the pressure got to her." She was ripped apart for her appearance, weight, and the fact that she seemed timid and not at all confident in what she was doing. A source said that Spears looked "disappointed" after her performance. And it probably didn’t help that she was reportedly out club hopping until 3 a.m. the night before with Diddy & Co.….
