Crimson 4
Having a relationship with a vampire, not a good idea?
I went outside into the rain and unsaddled the horses stabling them in the adjoining stable. I looked out at the grey landscape for a second before going back inside. The noise on the roof was tremendous and I stripped off my wet stuff conscious of the fact that Jordan was watching me.
A large drop of rain dripped from the roof onto my head and I looked up. There was a small hole in the roof where I had been standing and I looked over to Jordan.
"Is the roof aright where you are?" I asked taking off my last layer.
"Yes, I think so." I could see he was trying to get up and I went over and pushed him back into bed. His arm went round my waist and he pulled me into his arms
"Don’t argue, a wet vampire’s got to have some benefits." His skin was warm and smooth and with one look at his muscles I decided not to struggle.
"Are you feeling better?" his fingers ran over the muscles in my arm and I took that as a yes.
"Do they let anyone look at the records in the northern castle?" he lent back looking at the ceiling and let out a sigh.
"No, you can ask to look at something but a scribe has to be there when you do."
I let out an inner curse.
"So were looking for a bent clerk." I felt him chuckle. "Not in that way."
"I know." There was a long content silence filled with the patter of rain on the roof.
"Do you want to find out about your mother?" he asked looking back to me.
"Am I really that easy to read?"
"No I just guessed that you would have wanted to find out if we were going there."
"Ah." Another long silence.
"Relax will you."
"I am relaxed."
"No your not, your ready to put up a fight if I get threatening."
"So."
"Well it’s hardly comfortable to have you half on top of me if you’re tense."
"Then you had better let me get off then." He looked at me.
"How likely is that?"
"Not very, I guess." I looked into his dark eyes and his grip on me tightened pulling me fully on top of him.
"Why are you so nervous when I get close to you?"
"What do you mean?" I tried to lay my head down comfortably without leaving my neck to exposed but failed.
"Do you not trust me?"
"I trust you." He ran a finger over the big vain in my neck and I held my breath for a few seconds before letting it out in a shaky way.
"You’re scared of me?"
"No."
"I hear your heartbeat quickens whenever I’m near you."
"So what, that happens whenever I’m near a vampire."
"You don’t think it can work?"
"What?"
"Us."
"I…I don’t know." I tried to roll off him but his arm held me there.
"Kiriel and Nyx managed it."
"Yeah but she’s a mage."
"So what?"
"Even if Nyx lost control she can defend herself, if you lost control there would be nothing I could do to stop you."
"I wouldn’t."
"What if you did…" he didn’t say anything and I pulled myself out of his grasp walking over to where I had left my pack. Pulling some clothes out I dressed. When I looked back to Jordan he had turned over and was looking at the wall. I walked over to what served as the other bed and lay down looking up at the ceiling.
