Crimson 2

Giving her report to the head of intelligence for the order…
I walked down the corridor to the office where the head of intelligence, Sandech, would hear my report. We were just doing routine stuff at the moment checking out all the villages for artifacts. The order was a gathering of about three thousand vampires and five thousand humans. We had a truce between the other people; they would give us every second child they had to work in the citadel as well… food. They got fed well and the vampires commanded enough control over themselves not to kill them so it was a good arrangement. In return we didn’t take anyone from the villages.

Unfortunately this didn’t work for some of the more vicious vampires who formed an alliance which main goal was to achieve dominion over the humans. So a war had inevitably started.

I knocked on the heavy oak door.

"Come in." said a low voice. I entered the dim room and sank into a chair massaging my rope burnt wrists.

"Well." Sandech was a blunt man when he wanted to be so I just got right down to my report.

"There weren’t any artifacts or weapons of any kind, the village had taken some considerable hits on its population."

"How many?" he asked.

"About twenty, I think its Malick again." He winced, Malick was known for playing with his victims before killing them. The order have been trying to catch him for years
"Right if that’s all I have another assignment for you."

"Yes?"

"I’m going to sent you with Jordan to the northern castle for a week, to see what’s going on." I frowned the northern citadel was where the records of birth were kept; this could be a good time to find out who my mother was.

"What kind of things would I be looking for?"

"Tampering with the records, conspiracies, the usual stuff."

"Does Jordan have to come with me?" I asked.

"Of course, I’m not letting my best agent get captured by those maniacs." He returned to his papers and I took it that I was dismissed.

Jordan sat on Crimsons balcony with his back against the wall watching the sunlight fade behind the trees. He closed his eyes and an image sprang into his mind of crimson tied to that sacrifice pole in her underwear. Contrary to her belief he wasn’t just ‘screwing her around.’ he had feelings for her that only a vampire can have for a human. Whenever she was close his sensitive nose picked up her jasmine sent and that alone was enough to raise his body temperature. He loved to listen to her heart beat and when he had his lips to her neck it was so loud and fast that he felt like his head would explode.

He opened his eyes to see crimson walk past him, she had changed into a black gauze dress that went to the floor. Leaning on the railing she looked out over the blue lake her hair whispering in the wind.

"You look nice." Jordan remarked getting up and she jumped and turned around.
"Your back soon."

"Well it was only a short berating, Igor isn’t really into that sort of thing."

"What was Igor telling you off for this time?" she asked thinking about the first time she had met the head of admin.

"For chasing you." he replied running one finger over her collar bone.

"If you’re coming on an assignment with me then you have to behave." Crimson said moving over to the right side of the balcony and leaning against the wall.

"I know," he complained "it’s such a drag."

"So that means no kissing or hugging or... anything." She bit her lip and it split open where one of the villagers had hit her. She wiped the blood off, watching Jordan closely, but it kept on bleeding.

"Well if there’s none of that then I’d better take advantage of the time left." Putting one hand on her hip and the other behind her head he licked the blood off her lip slowly tasting it.

"Bloody hell." He let her go and stumbled back.

"What, don’t I taste good or something." In answer to that he passed out falling to the floor with a thump.

First I checked he was alive but after that I giggled, he wouldn’t live this down for a long time. He woke up quite quickly holding his head in his hands.

"You passed out." I said still licking the blood off my lip.

"My head hurts." He groaned, I helped him sit on my bed.

"What happened?" I asked.

"You taste fantastic." He said ignoring my question.

"So why did you pass out?"

"Because it was too much."

"But you only had one drop."

"I’ve already fed today." He lay down on his back with his eyes closed and smiled a content smile.

"Oh, are you all right?" he nodded. "Sure?"

He pulled me down onto the bed putting one arm around me.

"Now I’m perfect."

I stayed there a while until I was sure he was asleep before slipping out of his grasp and making plans for the journey to the northern castle.

There wasn’t a light ring there so we would have to either ride or walk. Pulling out an old chart I worked out the route before packing some clothes and food in some saddlebags.

By the time I was finished my eyes felt furry and I couldn’t think straight. I kicked off my shoes and even though Jordan was still in my bed I collapsed onto it pulling the covers over the top of me.
