Cricket World Cup Final Today
The grand finale of the 2011 Cricket World Cup is going to be played today at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Cricket fans the world over await the event and everyone's eager to see who takes the World Cup; India or Sri Lanka...

Indian cricket team 'captain cool' M.S. Dhoni, says the team has peaked at the right time, and well, the team does look all set to fight the Sri Lankans and take the world cup home. Unfortunately Nehra won't be playing today as he has multiple fractures in the finger of his right hand. But that might mean the return of S. Sreesant. India has always been known for its stronger batting side, but their bowling and fielding have tremendously improved and this can work wonders for India, as it kind of did, in the semifinal against Pakistan. This final is Sachin Tendulkar's last world cup match, and one which he is playing on his home ground. He is one of the greatest cricketers and ironically has never been a part of the world cup winning team. Will this match make that dream come true? Will India lift the cup this time? Indians might have more pressure, as they are playing in their own country, with millions of Indians watching them live. But according to what former Pakistani captain Imran Khan said, while talking to news channel reporters yesterday, the pressure won't be as much as what they had, when playing against Pakistan in the semi finals. Putting an end to the 28-year wait by winning the world cup, might pressure the Indian team. But this could be their very motivation to play and take the world cup home!
Though India scores higher in the favorites list of who's going to win the world cup, Sri Lanka, is undoubtedly an equally competent team and a strong contender. Sri Lankans are playing under the captaincy of Kumar Sangakkara, who, incidentally, like Dhoni, is also the wicket keeper of his team. Lasith Malinga is a potential threat to the Indian batting order. He is such a fascinating character, be it his unusual hairstyle or his brilliant bowling. And how can we forget Muttiah Muralitharan, one of the greatest bowlers of all time, who could spell danger to the Indian batting side. The semifinal played against New Zealand, was the last match he played on his home ground, in Colombo. The world cup final today will be Murali's last match. Will his team make their country proud by taking the world cup?
Something interesting about the world cup final today is that it is being played between two Asian teams in the Asian subcontinent itself. In this match we would be witnessing two of world's greatest cricketers play their last world cup game, Tendulkar and Murali. Both finalist teams are equally strong, which means we can expect some brilliant bowling and some excellent strokes. Making a huge score to pressure the opponent would be critical to the team batting first. Picking up early wickets and not giving away runs is something both bowling sides would be looking for. Everyone's eager to see the making of some superb records by both teams. Everyone's eager to watch the match live! (Refer to World Cup 2011 telecast rights in USA to know where you would be able to watch the final today.)
The one thing that goes beyond individual records and accolades is winning the world cup for your country! The dreams your people have for you, their hope, their prayers and the pride in their eyes is the biggest inspiration these players have; that's what gives them a high and motivates them to win. People of both nations are equally eager to see their team win the cup. Lifting the cup is what both countries are looking forward to. And now, it's just a couple of hours to go before we know, who takes the world cup home...
