Credit Tricks and Tips That You Need to Know
Don't fall for the sneaky way that credit cards try to lure you into debt.
Everyone seems to use credit these days. It goes without saying that most of us get a flood of mail on a regular basis with different credit card offers. Sometimes we also get offers on existing credit cards that we might want to take advantage of. For example, if you have a credit card with a local furniture store you will probably get an offer from time to time to get interest free financing for several years. Right now I have a coupon from a home improvement store offering me 10% off and no interest or payments for 6 months. That sounds great, doesn't it? Well there is trouble lurking below the surface. It could end up costing you a lot more than what you think that it is going to because the credit card companies aren't expecting you to look at the fine print. Here is the fine print that you are missing.
These special deals look great on the surface but did you know that if you do not pay off the full balance of the charge within the allotted time that you are hit with back interest since the start of the charge? This can get quite expensive, especially since a lot of those cards charge a high interest rate. So if you are going to take advantage of this type of offer you really need to be disciplined in your payments so that you make sure that it is paid in full before the grace period expires. Something else that may happen is that you decide to pay the bill in full on the last month of the grace period they may do something a little tricky. I know people that have done this and the credit card company does not acknowledge that they sent in the payment until after the grace period ended. Of course not all credit card companies will do this but just to be on the safe side I usually send in that last payment with a signature required.
Whenever you are using credit you always need to be cautious, but at the same time if you are able to be disciplined you can really take advantage of some great offers. Just be cautious and informed and you will be fine.
