Creating a Scrapbook for Your Mother
Get several ideas for creating a special scrapbook gift for your mother.
I came across the most wonderful idea recently. The idea was to create a scrapbook especially for your mother. At various times in our lives, we look at our mothers and our hearts swell. We seek a way to adequately show or tell our mothers just how much we truly appreciate them.
Over the years, my own mother has provided advice to me that I’ve carried with me into my adult life and even shared with my own children. The best example I can provide happened when I was about 22 years old. I had been verbally invited to a party. When invitations came out in written form, I did not receive one. I felt torn about going to the party anyways, calling the party giver or just staying home. My mom said to me "would you rather be at a party where you are not wanted, or be missed at a party where you are wanted?" It turned out the party giver changed her guest list and I was not on the final guest list. I was so happy I chose to stay home and not make the phone call. I was so thankful for the advice I had been given.
One way to show both gratitude and thanks is to create a scrapbook specifically for your mom. There are so many ideas of possible items to include in this very special scrapbook. If you scan the greeting cards section at Mother’s Day, or any other holiday, you’ll find many cards with very beautiful poetry. So why not pick a poem that adequately portrays the wonderful woman your mother is, and use that poem as your front page?
The example of the advice I that I received from my own mother could be typed up and added to a page along with photos of family parties.
When my children were young, my mom and I spent a lot of time playing board games. A scrapbook for my mom could include graphics of the many games we played, along with some journaling of my thoughts of those times together. One of my mom’s favorite games is RummyQ. I know my mom would love a page showing words, letters, and even a photo of the game set up to play.
A scrapbook for my own mom could also include photos of her three grandchildren. She has a very special relationship with each of them and would love to have photos of them in her scrapbook.
My mom also loves the game Mah-Jhong. She plays a couple of times a week. A photo of the Mah-Jhong set she got for her 70th birthday would be a great addition to her scrapbook, along with a card of the hands of the year.
