Crab cakes and crab cake dipping sauces are popular in and around the coastal areas. They are often considered as comfort food. Crab cakes are usually served as appetizers and is often a part of breakfast buffets. The cakes are made by adding bread crumbs, milk, mayonnaise, eggs, seasonings, etc., along with crab meat, which infuses the real flavor in the cakes. There are numerous ways of making crab cake. In some areas they are deep-fried and breaded, in others they are baked or they can also be grilled. Dipping sauces complement the crab cakes well. Homemade tartar sauce is a huge hit with most of the people, but other than tartar sauce, there are a number of other sauces which also popular. Crab Cake Mustard Sauce Recipe
This is one of the popular sauces, which often goes with crab cakes.

Ingredients
  • Vegetable Oil 1 tbsp
  • Butter or Margarine 1 tbsp
  • Shallot (minced) 1
  • Dijon Mustard 2 tbsp
  • Garlic Clove (minced) 1
  • White Wine ½ oz
  • Kosher Salt ¼ tsp
Method
  • In a saucepan, heat oil over medium heat.
  • Add shallots and garlic to the oil and fry till the shallots are tender.
  • Now add wine to the shallots and allow it to thicken for about 25 to 30 seconds.
  • Now add mustard and salt to the saucepan and bring it to a boil for about ½ a minute.
  • Take the pan off the heat and now stir in butter into the sauce.
  • Your sauce is now ready to be savored.
Spicy Crab Cake Sauce Recipe
If you are fond of spicy food, then you will certainly like this recipe of dipping sauce for crab cakes.

Ingredients
  • Avocado (pitted and peeled) 1 medium-sized
  • Milk ½ cup
  • Mayonnaise 2 tbsp
  • Hot Chili Peppers (including seeds) 2
  • Fresh Lime Juice 2 tbsp
  • Sugar ½ tsp
  • Salt ½ tsp
Method
  • In a food processor mix lime juice, salt, avocado, mayonnaise, sugar and chili peppers.
  • Grind till chili peppers and avocado are finely chopped.
  • Add milk to the purée and mix well.
  • If the sauce is not as spicy as you had desired, you can add some more chili pepper to the sauce.
Red Pepper Crab Cake Dipping Sauce
This is one of my favorite crab cake sauce recipe.

Ingredients
  • Chicken Stock 2 cups
  • Olive Oil 6 tbsp
  • Garlic (chopped) 2 tsp
  • Onions (chopped) ¼ cup
  • Medium Red Peppers (roasted, peeled, seeded and Diced) 3
  • Salt as per taste
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper as per taste
Method
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat in a sauce pan.
  • Add onions to the oil and sprinkle salt and pepper.
  • Let the onion cook for about a minute.
  • Now add peppers and garlic to the onions and let it cook for another minute.
  • Then add stock to the saucepan and bring the ingredients to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat and blend the ingredients with a hand mixer until smooth in consistency.
  • If the sauce is very thick in consistency, add some more stock to the sauce to adjust the consistency.
  • Check the taste and adjust salt and pepper as per taste.
Rémoulade Crab Cake Dipping Sauce
This is one of the most easiest to make sauce, as neither are there too many ingredients nor is the recipe lengthy.

Ingredients
  • Mayonnaise ¼ cup
  • Hot Pepper ¼ tsp
  • Dijon Mustard 1 tbsp
Method
  • To make this sauce, combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
  • Whisk with a hand blender and serve with delicious crab cakes.
You can adjust the ingredients mentioned in the crab cake dipping sauce recipes according to you taste. Ingredients like parsley can be used to garnish the sauce.
