Cagle, 39, and his girlfriend Jennifer Tant were arrested Wednesday after an argument turned physical. Both parties were intoxicated at the time of their arrest. Both were reportedly arrested and jailed on misdemeanor assault charges. It was reported that the couple were drinking at a local bar and got into an argument. They left the bar and upon entering their apartment the argument turned into a physical altercation. Tant, 29, reportedly hit Cagle with an umbrella and he reported hit her with a purse. Police responded to a call at 4:40 a.m. According to the police report Cagle said to the police "the location was his house, he was not leaving and that [Tant] needed to leave and get out of his life."
The couple was arrested and reportedly held in jail for 12 hours before they would be able to post $1,500 bail to be released. According to the report Cagle suffered a bump on the side of his head and Tant had a scrape on her upper lip as well as a bruised arm. The report also stated "both parties went from being compliant with the officers to being disorderly on numerous occasions." Cagle’s record label reportedly had no comment on the altercation.
Cagle’s latest album My Life’s Been a Country Song seems to sum it all up. Last year he was arrested for punching a man in the face in Tucson, Arizona. The man’s girlfriend reportedly became upset with Cagle when he refused to sign some things and began calling him names. An altercation occurred between her boyfriend and Cagle and the singer punched the man in the face. He will stand trial on that incident in September. In 2005, Cagle announced that he was not the biological father of the child that his girlfriend had led him to believe was his.
