Cost of Daycare for Infants

The average cost of daycare for infants differs largely according to the type of daycare facility and the state or city of providing daycare...
When people have babies, they usually have a big question of taking care of the babies, especially if both the parents are working professionals. For working parents, the best option to work as well as get their babies and infants cared for is day care. A day care is an activity and facility wherein a person takes care of other person's children, which he gets paid for, be it weekly or monthly. A daycare business is one of the most lucrative businesses going around. With providing day care, these businesses also offer a free pick and drop facility for infants. But one problem that worries a majority of the parents is the cost of daycare for infants, which is pretty high. Parents do have to make a lot of adjustments to their weekly or monthly budgets for paying this cost.

Location
The primary determinant of the cost of day care for infants is the location where the services are being provided. If you are availing day care services in states like New York, Illinois, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and similar others; the annual cost would generally range from $10,000 to $15,000. Day care in other states like Louisiana, Iowa, Idaho, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina will have lower cost which may range from $4,000 to $9,000. According to a survey, a majority of parents generally pay around $8,000 per annum as the average cost of daycare.

Type of Day Care
When we say day care, we generally mean the professional day care business and centers in our neighborhood. However, day care can also be related to home day care, or child care given by nannies. The cost of home day care centers is low as compared to professional day care businesses, especially if the children which are being taken care of belong to relatives, neighbors, or close ones.

The cost of daycare would also depend on which option you choose for your child to be taken care in. If you choose a professional day care center, as there are many infants, proper baby care will not be possible for each individual infant. On the other hand, in home day care centers, as there would be less number of babies and toddlers, the care taker can give proper attention to your child. The best care can be given by nannies who may even stay at your home and take care of your child.

Normally, professional day care centers charge somewhere around $700 per month. They may even charge more if care has to be taken during irregular working hours. The cost in home daycare centers may range from $400 to $800 per month. Among the three day care alternatives, child care rendered by nannies is the most expensive. Nannies who have to travel to your home for providing child care usually demand $500 to $700 a week. But live-in nannies may be paid less, as they get free housing.

Those who cannot afford the overall cost of daycare for infants usually ask their family members to take care of the children. If you are ready to spend a lot on child care, nannies are probably the best and most safe option.
