Cooking Shrimp in the Oven
Ingredients
- 5 pounds shrimp
- 6 lemons sliced
- ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
- 3 cloves of garlic, mashed
- 1 pound margarine
- 2 teaspoons hot and sour sauce
- 5 tablespoons fresh ground black pepper
- 1 pound butter
- Salt to taste
Peel and devein the shrimp and transfer it into a large bowl. In a saucepan, melt the butter and margarine and add lemons, mashed garlic, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, hot and sour sauce and salt to taste. Let this mixture simmer on medium flame for about 30 minutes. Transfer the shrimp into a large baking dish and pour the mixture on top. Bake the shrimp in a preheated oven at 175 ºC for about 25 to 30 minutes.
Shrimp Salad Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups shrimp
- 3 hard cooked eggs
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
- 1 small tomato, finely chopped
- ½ cup celery
- ¼ cup chili sauce
- 1 cup chopped lettuce and mixed greens
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
Peel the shrimp and devein it. In a saucepan, boil water and cook the shrimp in it, till the flesh becomes opaque and firm. Drain the water and transfer the cooked shrimp into a separate bowl. Add onions, tomato, mayonnaise, celery, chili sauce and lemon juice and mix well. Now add the chopped eggs, mixed greens and lettuce leaves and mix gently till all the ingredients blend well. Arrange lettuce leaves on a salad plate and transfer the contents on top. Refrigerate the salad for about half an hour before serving. Serve this salad with soy sauce or sweet and sour sauce to give your salad a tangy feel.
Pasta with Shrimp Scampi Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 pounds medium-sized fresh and cooked shrimp
- 1 pound spaghetti
- ¾ cup butter or margarine, melted
- ½ cup dry white wine or chicken broth
- ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- ½ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
- Salt to taste
Peel and devein the shrimp and cook it in boiling water for about 15 minutes till the shrimp turns pink. Cook the spaghetti as per the instructions on the package. In a skillet, heat olive oil and saute the peppers and minced garlic. Mix white wine (or chicken broth, as per your choice), Worcestershire sauce and mustard and cook it on high heat till the sauce begins to simmer. Transfer the shrimp and add lemon juice, butter and salt to taste. Cook this mixture for about 5 minutes till the ingredients blend properly. Spread the cooked spaghetti on a large serving dish and transfer the contents of the skillet on top of it. Garnish the dish with chopped parsley and Parmesan cheese and serve it with crusty bread or salad.
Recipe Using Pre-cooked and Frozen Shrimp
Ingredients
- 1 pound medium shrimp, pre-cooked and frozen
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Frank's hot sauce
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped or ½ teaspoon garlic powder
In a medium-sized bowl, place the shrimp and garlic and cook it in a microwave on high for about 5 minutes, till the shrimp becomes hot. Remove the bowl from the microwave and drain the juice. Add hot sauce, seasonings, butter, lemon and parsley and cook it again in the microwave for about 10 minutes till the butter melts. Sprinkle Morton's hot sauce and garnish the dish with lemon wedges before serving.
