Control - Prologue
Prologue
Drip. Drip. Drip.
Who would have thought that such innocent a sound could be so terrifying? When he was a child, it reminded him of the broken gutter when rain was pouring down - home safety. A sound that would send him off to sleep, leaving him with blissful dreams not making his gut clench and his breath come in fast and uneven.
He shook himself, expecting to open his eyes to the warm, golden light that filled the kitchen in a morning. Instead, he found himself standing in the middle of a house of ruins. He’d let himself get distracted, let his emotions - his fear control him. He’d lost the iron grip. He always kept around his powers and now his childhood home was destroyed.
He’d only come back to pay his respect to his family’s graves. He’d ended up turning their only home into a pile of rubble.
