Consider a Holiday Themed Logo Update

A discussion of the value of a holiday themed web design and/or logo.
Most of us can’t help but notice the logo changes that major search engines implement online to reflect holidays and major events. Should corporate websites consider doing the same?

As a Toronto web design company, we encourage our clients to follow this practice for many reasons. First of all, it shows that the website is kept up-to-date. These types of minor modifications can also add a touch of humor, and reveal a more human side of the corporation. Logo updates are easy to implement and can always be reused seasonally in the future.

Note that a drastic change in the creative is not recommended. Changing your brand permanently and without reason is a risky move. You don’t want to confuse a previous visitor, or obliterate the message that your logo intends to portray. Instead, make a subtle update that complements the existing logo and cleverly celebrates a given holiday or other special date.

A change in color or the addition of a recognizable image or symbol should do the trick. Keep it clean and simple. For instance, adding a pumpkin as the dot of an "i" during Halloween or snowflakes for the winter holidays is a nice detail. It helps you and your consumer get into the spirit of the holiday while maintaining the integrity of the brand.

Occasionally adding a design element to your logo is smart practice. It shows your visitors a lighter side to your business presence and reminds them that your website is subject to periodical updates.

Altering your corporate logo for the holidays is a nice touch that gets some positive attention for your website.
