How to Connect Computer to TV

There are a number of ways in which you can get a desktop computer to TV connection. You can either have a VGI, HDMI, or DVI or the old style S-cable standard for connecting TV and computer. You need to check out which one amongst these can you use by examining your computer as well as the TV.

Connecting with HDMI
What is HDMI cable used for? According to the geeks in this field, HDMI apparently is the best in the business when it comes to connecting a computer to a TV. Connecting With S Video Cable
One of the most common ways to connect computer to TV is with the help of an S-video cable. The reason is that it is the cheapest, and maximum number of TV sets are equipped with this. The only things is that you would have to confirm is that your computer has that port. There are 4 pin and 7 pin ports in this type of cable. Usually computers and laptops have a 7pin S-video cable port. In case you TV has a 4 pin port, these two cannot be connected.

Connecting Through DVI
DVI, an abbreviation of Digital Video Interface, is the best when it comes to picture quality as compared to either VGA or S-video. Of course your computer will need to have that port and the TV has to be HDTV. This cord is not as cheap as S-video for obvious reasons!

This method of connecting works well when you have a HDTV. You will not find this port in any other type of TV. This type of cable is cheap, too.

While Connecting Computer and TV

Before you connect computer to TV, you need to see which of these are present in both TV and computer. Then all you have to do is get the concerned cable type. If you have it, great, otherwise you will obviously have to buy it. Locate the concerned cable ports on the both computer and TV and consequently plug one end into the port of the TV and the other end to your computer. The port will be at the back of the CPU. If the connection is fine, you will most probably receive signals from your computer on your TV.

As a final step, switch the source of the TV with the help of the remote control. Normally, it could be either RGB of VGA. Once you do that you are all set to do whatever you want, watch something on your PC, or on the TV!
