Confession night for David Letterman!!
Ok! So, disastrous interviews and confessions are a regular affair for late night shows. Top among all the options available was said to be "Late Show with David Letterman". Letterman's show is no exception from the confession-rule. Yes, David Letterman and the rest of America has been witness to several confessions at night on this show. The most recent and controversial one being of the host, David Letterman himself.

David Letterman allegedly had a series of affairs and "relationships" with co-workers in the past. Letterman, has been known to make quite a night out of mocking celebrities and politicians who "sleep around" with their subordinates. Hence, when he offered a mea culpa on his own show, he was accused for hypocrisy. This was because Letterman was, as he says, being blackmailed by Robert Halderman, the producer of "48 Hours Mystery".

Previously, the link between Letterman and Halderman was not clear. However, after investigation it was found that Halderman was, infact, living with Stephanie Birkitt, a 34-year-old woman who works on the Late Show with David Letterman as well as at 48 Hours Mystery. Birkitt was often Letterman's on-screen assistant for his comedy bits. Attempts to get in touch and establish contact with Birkitt have been futile.

Halderman, apparently, informed Letterman that he (Halderman) was in need of financial resources and that he had proof to stipulate Letterman's several affairs. Assistant District Attorney, Judy Salwen said that the package that Halderman sent Letterman allegedly, "contained clear, explicit and actual threats that indicate this defendant ... (wanted to) destroy the reputation of Mr. Letterman and to submit him and his family to humiliation and ridicule". Halderman has, so far, maintained a "not guilty" status quo on this issue.

So far there is no news on the repercussions, of this event, that Letterman would have to bare. Letterman's contract with CBS will carry on till next August. However, talks are on to extend it through 2012. Tom Keeney, the spokesperson of Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants, publicly stated that Letterman "is not in violation" of the company's harassment policy "and no one has ever raised a complaint against him". Halderman is currently on a $200,000 bail.

This is the second time the Letterman is going through an embarrassing ordeal in the past four months. Earlier, it involved Sarah Palin's family and the crude joke about them. This is where I sign off! More on this issue, soon!
