Concrete Prices Per Yard
Trying to calculate the price of concrete? No worries here! The article will throw light on vital aspects of calculating the value.

Concrete Prices per Cubic Yard
The type of project, quantity, types of concrete and the way in which it reaches your home, primarily affects the cost, be it any criteria. Let us take a look at its prices per cubic yard. In 2010, the costs are said to be anywhere between $120 and $150 for a cubic yard. The energy consumption during the production too, can cause the prices to fluctuate. As the cost of energy rises, the concrete cost too, will escalate. Some time ago, the cost was around half of current value, including the delivery, say it was in the range of $60 to $75, this was for 10 yards.
Factors Affecting the Cost
As mentioned earlier, the energy required for manufacturing concrete is considerable. As a result it is energy intensive. The project you are going to undertake - driveway or yard or anything will also determine the price per yard and the overall cost. The larger the area, you will have to shell out more money. How far you are located from sources of limestone, sand, aluminum or iron will have a great deal of impact on the cost of the concrete and invariably how much will be needed for a cubic yard. As the delivery charges will increase if you stay far off, and will be reasonable if you are close by.
Other Factors
The cost can be calculated either by delivery in truckloads or through bags. Typically, trucks carry 10 cubic yards of concrete. The least you can order is a load of 5 yards and be charged for a 'short' load. This will cost you more than per yard. The cost of each yard in this case can be calculated by dividing the supplier's estimate by the number of yards you want to order. If you do not find this easy, current prices can be calculated through ready mix concrete available in bags. These are commonly available in 40, 60 and 80 pounds. An eighty pound bag currently costs around $4. Now consider this for cubic yard cost. Around 90, forty pound bags are required for a 27 cubic foot yard of concrete and 45, eighty pound bags are needed for the same. This is a comparatively easier method.
There are some more nuances to concrete prices per cubic yard. But for now, I guess this will be good enough, right? All the other things I guess are better left to be obtained from the horse's mouth (the material supplier)! Oh and yes! These are not the prices engraved on a stone and are liable to vary slightly, so please bear that in mind! Here is where I sign off!
