Comprehensive Exams

Comprehensive exams are done to ensure that the patient is in good health.
At Spring Valley Dental Group, in O'Fallon, IL, we want to ensure that our patients are in good health and have excellent oral health.

When a new patient comes into our office, we want to exam the teeth, the gums and the mouth. We check for decay, bone loss, gum disease, and oral cancer. We do this by visual exam, using certain instruments, and x-rays.

Gum disease has been linked to medical problems such as, heart disease.

We are a general dentist practice, that offers cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, root-canals, orthodontics, dental implants, and periodontal treatment.

We want to stress the importance of comprehensive exams and the necessity of x-rays. Please ensure that your dentist is doing this for you and your family.

Your medical history is important to our dentists. Medication that you might be taking, can dry your mouth. Patients with dry mouth can have extensive decay. Patients that have undergone radiation, can have decay as well.

We update our patients health history on a regular basis.

Remember to give your provider a current list of your medications and health problems.
