Communicate in Style with the Sony Ericsson Jalou

Another stunning new mobile phone is in the offing from the Japanese mobile phone leader Sony Ericsson. Hot on the heels of its recently released Satio and Xperia handsets, and after nearly a year of furious speculation on the net, the company formally announces the launch of the Sony Ericsson Jalou.

It’s about time. Positioned to compete with the chic and trendy fashion mobile phones, the Jalou is poised to perch at the top of the fashion food chain, as it were. There’s really nothing like it in the market, at any price point.

Feature Highlights

The Jalou is a much-awaited fashion phone sporting a compact clamshell form that’s sculpted around with gem-inspired faceting. Just measuring a petite 73mm long when folded and weighing a light 84 grams, it’s no bigger than a compact face powder and could easily be confused with one. It will be offered to the public in three uniquely stylish and subdued colors: Aquamarine Blue, Deep Amethyst and Onyx Black. Here are some of the features to look out for in the Sony Ericsson Jalou.

-Beneath its exquisite body, the Jalou is basically a quad band GSM and triband UMTS supporting 3G and high speed HSDPA that really benefits your surfing and downloading over the internet.

-It supports social networking sites, Google apps, MS Exchange and a sophisticated NetFront internet browser with Java and YouTube support.

-There’s a trendy CyberShot 3.2 megapixel camera with geo-tagging and video light for video recording.

-A WalkMan media player, Bluetooth with A2DP and stereo FM radio with RDS get thrown in as well.

A Couple of Firsts from Sony Ericsson

Along with a stylishly unique user interface that adapts to special events of the year and changes in zodiac signs, you get two cool features considered to be the first in any Sony Ericsson handset, if not the general mobile phones out there.

-This is the first handset form Sony Ericsson to have an integrated pedometer called WalkMate. Use it to count your steps when taking a walk. Great for walkathons, marathons or just plain morning jogging.

-It has a 2" QVGA LCD screen that supports 256k colors. Not exactly a stand-out but it transforms into a compact mirror with a touch of a special key to toggle between the two modes right in the middle of a phone task. Quite convenient when you suddenly get the urge to check your face while working on the phone.

Dolce & Gabbana Dresses It Up

Note that a limited edition Sony Ericsson Jalou will come spruced up by fashion house Dolce & Gabbana transforming it into a more appealing high fashion accessory that is as head-turning in looks as it is in price. It will get a 24-Karat gold trim around an elegant and dignified rose color body and will be specially packaged with its unique earphone and a few exclusive D&G items.

Sony Ericsson seems to have had a busy year releasing exciting new handsets in the Windows Mobile, Android and Symbian platforms. It now ends the year with a remarkably elegant fashion phone in the Jalou. There’s still no word yet on its SIM-free street price when it arrives in market before Christmas. We can only speculate it will be cheap.
