Coming Home To Aurelius 5

Pupply love?
Ha ha. My life is a lot like Winny's which is why it was my first story and which is why it was so easy to right. Only that I have one more brother than she does. I haven't met an Andrew. I'm part Australian, part English, part Irish and I think a bit of American. But yeah, passport says American even though I haven't been there in a while except for holidays. And yes my family is pretty loaded. But mom and dad've been really careful with the whole bunch of us cuz they were scared we'd turn out spoilt. We all've had to cover half or at least some part of all major purchased like cars, stereos and stuff like that from our own money! So the grass really isn't all that green! And Tuscany is awesome. I was just a little irritated yesterday. Turns out the guy, is such a huge git. Just cuz he's good looking he expects me to trip over my own feet or something. That so wasn't going to happen. So I told him exactly where to go. I went for a long walk around the estate, got lost, but ended up in the backyard anyway. So no harm done. I'm going to be on the road for a while now, so i may not be able to right too soon. But pray i find some great inspiration out here! Keep reading and commenting! I love you guys! And grace- I’m naming my next dog june bug. Btw, I do love dogs. My last, a German Shepherd died last year. He was 10 man years. I'm still not over it to get another dog. But who knows, some adorable brown eyes might just make me change my mind. . . . . . . Ciao!

Fortunately, Jeremy saved the situation with yet another observation, "There are dogs in the car!"
There was an instant flurry as Oscar and Alexis both went to rescue the pups from the car. Still red in the face, Alexis stood with two in her arms for Mrs. Whitter, Mrs. Carmichael and Caroline to fuss over, while Oscar paraded the other two for Jeremy, Alexander and Mr. Whitter and his father. Unused to such a lot of attention, the pups started fussing, mewling and making puppy noises. Caroline laughed, "Poor dears must be completely baffled. You settle them in while I take my own pet to the dentist!"
Jeremy screeched, "I don't wanna go, I wanna stay here and play! Gramps, tell mommy . . . . . " Alexander scooped up the red faced kid saying, "We'll come back here once we visit Doctor henry son. Now be nice and say bye bye." Taking advantage of Jeremy's temporary calm, the older people hurried to their cars, having accepted Alex's invitation to dinner at Aurelius.
Caroline lagged behind with a silly grin on her face as she
hugged Alexis and elbowed Oscar, "If it takes four dogs for you to get a kiss, you'll have to buy her lions instead of diamonds to get her to marry you."
She skipped away before Oscar could shoot something at her. As the cars pulled away, Oscar looked down at Alexis with glittering eyes, "I would you know."
Alexis raised her brown eyes to meet his and asked, "Would what?"
Oscar grinned and said," Buy you lions!"
With that, he headed to the house with long strides. Shaking her head as if it would help clear out the sudden emotions swirling in there making her dizzy in the most beautiful sense of the word.
Alexis was met by a gleeful bunch as she neared the house. Golden Falcon, Anderson, Joe and a few younger men were exclaiming about what great farm dogs they'd make.
Joe said, "We should put them up near the animals, so that they're used to them." Alexis started, "No way. They stay in my room till they're older. We'll introduce them to the animals yes, but they stay with me."
While this statement might've caused some ripples, the men were overtly sensitive to Alex's needs right now. It was good to see the haunted, hunted look leave her face, so they kept silent.
That's when one of the younger ranch hands spoke, "Miss, would you be seeing the new horses with us this evening?" For a minute everything froze.
Alex stood, remnants of a smile stuck on her face but her eyes wide with terror, unseeing. Oscar didn't know exactly what was going on, but he did know that Alexis was terrified. She started, stammering, trembling, when the men unfroze. They took charge of the dogs, talking loudly about the weather.
Oscar, having relinquished the dogs, wrapped his arms around her and just held her. Alexis stood, safe in Oscar's arms, but terrors from long ago assaulted her.
For some reason, the fears had come back. Crying, she held on to Oscar as images, flashed past.
As the colors and sounds whirred past her, confusing her, scaring her, disorienting her. The colors faded, to grey and finally to black, as she went limp and fainted in Oscar's arms.

Scared and concerned, he picked her up and ran into the house, his heart in his throat. Shouting instructions to Bertha to call a doctor, he carried her to her room and gently laid her on the bed.
Someone would think she was just sleeping, if not for the sheen of sweat on her brow. Using a wet cloth, he wiped her forehead and sponged her neck.
It was a while before the doctor, old Mr. Holde arrived, and checked Alexis. Sighing, he looked up and asked," Joe told me she reacted like this to the mention of horses, is that correct?"
Nodding solemnly, Oscar said," I don't know what happened honestly. The chap asked her if she'd like to see the new horses and everything kind of froze. Next thing, she was . . . . "
He never got to finish, as Alexis stirred weakly. She opened her eyes slightly and mutely raised her hand like a child would to her parents.
Oscar was at her side in an instant, craddling her in his arms. Doctor Holde stood up with a slight smile in his eyes, "I'm leaving a few tablets and instructions on how to use them. But you need to eat before that. Oscar, I'm leaving you in charge. Don't get up, I'll show myself out."

They sat in that attitude for a few minutes before Alexis started speaking.
Her voice was weak, but Oscar let her talk since he realized that she needed to purge herself of the fears that haunted her. Tightening his arms around her, he held her as she described the event that became the cause for misery in her otherwise happy existence. "I was 11. Uncle Alan and I went riding. He'd said that Daisy, my horse was acting strangely and he wanted a vet to look her over. But I was obstinate, because I'd just learnt to jump, I wanted to go riding. So he did take me. We were somewhere near the creek. Daisy suddenly panicked and started galloping to the woods. There was a huge log on the trail. I thought she'd jump over it but she stopped right in front of it and I flew off her. I broke my left arm and right leg and couple of ribs. I was scared. But with a cast and painkiller, everything seemed okay. But that was when mom panicked. Grandfather had died when he fell off his horse. Apparently under similar circumstances. She started having panic attacks and I started having nightmares. That was when mom decided that I wouldn't ride again. When I visited in the winter, everything went downhill. I couldn't even make myself approach a horse. And back in London, mom started having fits. Doctors had to sedate her. She'd seen her father die. They said, this brought back memories. She went into flashbacks. That was when visiting Aurelius was off bounds. It hurt Uncle Alan no end, but he and Dad decided it was for the best. Then Uncle Alan died because a damn horse came in front of his car when he was going to the airport. Of course everyone said it was the faulty breaks that were responsible, but there was a horse involved. I know it might sound crazy, but its as if we're cursed or something and again today, when that guy asked me to look at the horses, I don't know why, but the flashbacks started again."
At this, her voice which had been steady through the abbreviated narration, broke and she cried. Cried for having lost her uncle, cried for the fear that haunted her and her mother.
She cried for the years lost.
"Its my fault. Had I not wanted to go riding that day, none of this would have happened. Uncle Alan would still be alive. Mom would be able to visit her childhood home without suffering from fits which are caused by memories. Its all my fault."
Oscar wanted to roar, hit someone, break something, only to take away her pain and make her whole again.
He did neither. He tilted her head up to look into his eyes and said softly, as he kissed the tear drops on her cheeks, "Sweetheart, listen to me. Stop blaming yourself. It’s not your fault. You're carrying a burden that’s not yours to carry and you're buckling under it. They were all accidents. Unfortunate, needless and painful accidents. But that’s what they were. It’s not your fault."
His heart clenched as he listened to her sobs and felt her slight body shake furiously.
He held her saying quietly, "Let it out Alex. You've held it in for too long, let it out."
It took a while for Alex to fall asleep, with soft comforting words from Oscar.
When her limp heaviness spoke of sleep, he very carefully and very gently laid her onto the pillows and padded out of the room.
Downstairs he found Golden Falcon and Joe feeding the puppies. They immediately clamored for information when Oscar walked in looking tired.
He assured them that she was just sleeping and that he was going to fix her a meal so she could have the sedatives. Joe spoke angrily, "I'm going to wring that young buck's neck. . . . ."
Oscar interrupted, "It was an honest mistake. He didn't know did he?" Golden Falcon nodded slowly, "He didn't he’s new. Poor child must be suffering."
Bertha walked in carrying a huge tray loaded with pasta and breads and cheese and a worried look on her face, "I'm taking this food up. . . . . . "
Oscar started laughing, "Bertha, I don't think she'd going to be able to eat all that. You wouldn't have some stew tucked away would you?"
In a long blink of the eyelid, Bertha was back with two bowls of fortifying lamb stew and a gooey chocolate cake, "You're going to eat with her. I heard your stomach rumble!"

Soon, Alex was sitting wrapped up in a couch with Oscar right next to her, blowing on the stew before he spoonfed her. Suddenly, Alex's expression cleared and she giggled, "It feels good to let you play mother hen right now, but I'm going to be so embarrassed tomorrow."
Oscar shook with silent laughter as he touched the spoon to her lips. She started giggling again as Oscar let out a cry of, "What now?"
Laughing harder, "I could never have thought you could feed someone so patiently!" He sent a sexy smirk in her direction and said, "I'm a man of many talents darling. Now please quit laughing and finish the stew so that I can start on that cake." It didn't take long for both of them to polish of the stew and start on the cake.
Leaning back, Alexis rubbed her tummy," Chocolate is man's best friend."
Playing with her hair Oscar laughed, "You have four of the conventional best friends snoozing downstairs."
Alex started as she started ranting that she was a fool to have forgotten about them, when Oscar kissed her into silence.

She was still weak kneed when he drew back and said, "They’re fed. And sleeping. I'll bring them up for you. You just need to think of names for them."
She looked up at him, her eyes soft and wide, before they went round with panic again, "Oscar, what about dinner? I invited everyone. . . . . "
Another kiss was in order. Oscar was enjoying himself completely, blissfully happy, he told the heavy head resting on his chest, "I cancelled it."
"You're a god send." came the muffled reply.
Laughing he watched as she took her medicines and said sternly, "Now, I'm going to round up the pups and bring them up. It'll take me 15 minutes maximum. I want you ready for bed by the time I knock."
20 minutes later, a showered Alexis, dressed in a huge t shirt and sweatpants, opened the door to let Oscar and the four dogs in. Soon enough, they were settled by the bed as they both stared down at them with adoration.
Alexis looked up at Oscar, something deep and indescribable in her eyes. He returned the look as he drew her close and kissed her softly. Drawing away, he kissed her forehead and then her nose.
Silently, as if afraid to break the fragile magic of the moment, he tucked her into bed and with another kiss, left, and sleep, blessed sleep took over and Alexis slept dreamlessly.

Next morning, Oscar strolled into the drawing room to find Alexis flat on her stomach on the ground. He stood stock still and took in the scene.
One pup was sitting on her bum, his brother was lying on his back on her back, while another was nibbling on her toes. The fourth was nose to nose with Alexis and was licking her nose at regular intervals.
He grinned and went and stood right in front of her.
Running her eyes up from the shiny loafers to the faded jeans, light blue shirt and finally reached the handsome face.
Alexis returned his smile and said, "Mind getting those three off my back? I've been in this position for the part 20 minutes." Laughing, Oscar stooped down and picked the pups off with extreme care that looks strange for a man so huge and powerful.
Standing up with the last dog in her hand Alexis stood up. Remembering the events of the previous evening, she performed her ritual action of blushing.
With supreme understanding of her reactions, Oscar drew her close, puppies and all, and said, "You're recalling the spoonfeeding aren't you?"
Before Alexis could answer, one rouge pup, relieved himself, leaving a wet patch on Oscar's shirt front.
They put the dogs down immediately.
Snorting with laughter, Alexis rushed to get old newspapers. What she saw on her return, made her want to melt into a tiny puddle.
Oscar had taken off his shirt. His jeans hung low on his hips, displaying a slim line of his underwear that read Calvin klein. Her eyes roved over his bronze flat six pack abs, and broad broad broad broad muscular shoulders and muscular arms. Mmm. All man.
She walked in on trembling legs with newspapers, keeping her eyes studiously on the pups on the floor.
Before she knew what happened, a bronze hand closed over her wrist and her body was pulled forward and stuck to the body she'd been eating up visually.
She stood stock still and looked at her pale fingers against Oscar's skin. His lips found hers and soon they were kissing till she turned soft and wanton in his arms.
No this wasn't kissing. Mere kissing couldn't elicit such feelings, both emotional and physical.
One of her arms was locked around his neck while the other rested on his raspy cheek. His arms in turn were locked around her waist holding her to his rock hard body.
Small, yet potent explosions shook Alex's core as Oscar's tongue battled with her own in a sensual dance to a music that played in their minds alone.
Oscar let out a groan and pulled away, looking down at the slightly dazed angel in his arms, "I caught you looking."
Alex looked up, still breathing heavily, "So this was payback?"
The yapping of the puppies made them aware of their surroundings.
Alexis was regarding them with her head to the left, "What should we name them?" Oscar delighted at the use of the pronoun 'we' looked down at the little furry bundles. Now this was tough.
