• Comet goldfish, also known as comet tailed goldfish is a variety of goldfish. This goldfish is a bit slimmer and smaller than the regular goldfish. It's distinctive feature is its long tail, which is deeply forked.
• These goldfish species were first bred in the 1880s by a government worker Hugo Mulertt. This fish variety was bred from the goldfish and was introduced in the U. S. Government Fish Commission ponds in Washington.
• Sarasa is a variant of comet goldfish and can be distinguished by its red and white colored body, a pattern similar to koi fish. This breed is believed to be from China.
• The normal size of this fish is about 15 to 20 cm (approximately 6 to 8 inches). With adequate diet, the fish can grow larger than this size. The fish's lifespan in aquariums is believed to be approximately 10 to 15 years.

• Purchase a fish tank or glass bowl (according to the number of fish you want to rear as pets) that has ample space. If you are planning to rear more than two fish or different types of goldfish together, you will need a larger tank that is deep enough. It is also better to purchase a fish tank with cover to minimize water evaporation.
• To clean the newly purchased tank and make it suitable for the goldfish, fill the tank partially with hot water and using a dishtowel, scrub the tank. Once you are done with it, empty the tank and rub it dry with a towel. Now fill the tank with water and allow it to stand for about one day before you introduce the fish to their new home.
