The combination drug Combipres is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. This is a combination of Clonidine to relax blood vessels and reduce stress that is put on the heart and the diuretic Chlorthalidone. This combination medication regulates the flow of blood from the heart and reduces edema within the body. This drug also increases the salt and water content within the body to ensure the loss of water and salt is replenished.

Combipres is a prescription medication that is used for the treatment of high blood pressure. This medication works well for some people. It is important to stay on schedule when taking this medication. If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember unless your next dose is close, do not take two doses of this medication close together.

Precautions

Some conditions can be made worse by the use of this medication. If you have an allergy to sulfa, or if you have a history of any liver disease, you should not take Combipres. You should be monitored closely if you have a history of any kidney disease, diabetes, gout, pancreatitis, heart disease, stroke, high cholesterol or triglycerides, or collagen vascular diseases including Lupus. If you choose to take this medication even though you have one of these conditions you need to have close medical supervision.

Combipres is a category B pregnancy risk medication. Negative effects of this medication on women during pregnancy are very slight and it is considered safe for the fetus as well. Breast milk carries this medication so there is a risk to breast-fed infants and children. This drug has not been studied and approved for use by children.

Precautions

Take this medication only when prescribed by a physician and take only the dose that has been prescribed for you. Strictly adhering to your dosage schedule is suggested. If you do miss a dose you should take it as soon as possible unless it is time for your next dose. In that case, skip the missed dose; doubling up on doses of this medicine can have fatal results.

This medication should not be taken with other medications without first discussing the possible side effects with your doctor. This includes over the counter supplements as well.

Overdose Symptoms

If you suspect an overdose you should seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms include drowsiness, lethargy, weakness, nausea, vomiting, and seizures. An overdose of Combipres medication can be fatal.
