Colorado Railroad Museum - A Great Vacation and Travel Destination

The Colorado Railroad Museum is a must visit destination if you are in Golden, Colorado. The museum is actually located at the bottom of North Table Mountain and is on 15 acres of land that displays more than 100 cars! These railroad cars range from standard to narrow and this is one of the United State’s best railroad museums.

The museum has been around since the late 1950s and is an amazing representation of the state and its railroad history, especially with the narrow gauge mountain railway cars.

When you plan your trip to the area keep in mind the museum hours. It is open from 9 am until 5 pm every day. However, holidays including Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New ears are closed. During the summer there are extended hours until 6 pm. This includes the months of June, July, and August. Prices are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for kids 2 to 16 and free for kids under two. There is also a family price of $18 for two adults and all their children 16 and under. Members of the museum have free admission. There are group rates of 15% off the regular prices for groups of 20 or more. Children’s groups are limited to a maximum of 60 kids at one time for no more than 90 minutes. Supervision is required.

The museum has a nice picnic area, which is a great place to eat lunch. All guests are invited to bring their lunch and drinks to the museum and to enjoy them in the picnic area. Those wishing for an amazing birthday party may consider renting the caboose for their party! Weddings are also hosted on site as well as reunions, company picnics, and the like. The museum is located at 17155 W. 44th Avenue just west of Denver. Take exit 265 from I-70 west or 266 I-70 east.
