College party is an event that almost all the college goers look forward to, for some or the other reason. Themed parties are great for college days, since themed parties allow everyone to dress up in innovative costumes and accessories and make the atmosphere of the party quite fun-filled. Some of the things to remember while planning a college theme party:

• Do not complicate things. Use a theme that is simple and easy to execute.
• Make sure you convey the theme well in advance so that people have time to plan and prepare themselves.
• Refrain from obscene or vulgar themes since not everyone might be comfortable with it.
• Make sure your theme is visible through every element starting with the venue, the decorations and of course the guests and their costumes.

Toga Party

Well it all began with the 1978 flick Animal house which popularized the idea of a toga party. A toga party is essentially based on themed costumes wherein everyone is supposed dress up in togas. Conventionally, a toga is supposed to be a one-piece cloak worn by men in ancient Rome, however in a party, both guys as well as girls have to dress up in togas. While having a toga party, all you need to do is to be creative with a piece of fabric (perhaps even sheets in case you don't have time to buy a cloth) and drape yourself with the cloth to create a toga. To make things interesting - use accessories that go with the toga. Plastic swords, leather sandals, some interesting jewelry or perhaps even a crown. Toga parties are really fun and the costumes perhaps make for the biggest icebreaker!

Pool Party

There is nothing like a great pool party when the summer sun is up, and all the guys and gals want to do is have a dip in the pool. This is a great idea; all you need is a big enough pool venue to host the party. Welcome the guests with cool margaritas and cocktails. Have some lip smacking appetizers to go with the cool drinks. As for the food, you can have a cool snack bar and a buffet with a light and crisp menu that would suit the weather. Decorate the pool with some unique and cool floats. As for the dress code, people will obviously wan to dress up in swimwear of their choice, so make sure you provide a decent space or changing rooms for the guests and of course shower rooms for people before and after they enter the pool. Sunny umbrellas and sunbathing chairs and recliners are a must-have for the pool party décor.

Using a theme for your party is a great way of incorporating an element of both fun and variety when it comes to making it a memorable night. You don't want to be the one to grow old, look back upon your college days, sigh and wish you had more fun!
