What is a Grant?
There is no exact definition of the term 'grant'. A grant in common parlance, is defined as a financial aid that is provided by the grant-maker (government, banks, not-for-profit concerns, etc.). Grants, so to say are not loans, nor are they charity. When it comes to the field of education, some very unique grants are offered to aspiring students, who are unable to enroll in educational institutes as a result of financial issues. In some countries, companies sign agreements with students that they will work for a small time period with the company after graduating. Governments, grass root level administrations and charity foundations also offer such grants to students, in exchange of simple considerations such as doing charity work. The concept of grants has been used successfully in many fields such as education and health.
