Collection of Poems by Middle School Girls
When me and my friend were in middle school a few years ago, we did this poetry section in English. When I changed schools, we gave each other poems we had written. Here are a few of them.
The Morning Dove
He lands on a branch
On a solid hard oak tree
With his soft white wings
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Left
When you feel
The lost, the ones that
Will not return
On a different note
When one moves
You lose, a part of you
An unfilled gap
Asking for the part, begging
For the part you've lost
Empty, a space
Will you be forgotten?
You put in more than the outcome
Call it quits?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rain
Listening, to the pitter, patter
Of the rain
Watching the sleek, chilly
Drops slide blissfully down
The tin shelter
She's wrapped tightly
In a single blanket
Bone chilling wind, piercing
Her skin, through the gaping holes in the
Blanket
The gray sky is keeping
Her from viewing the sun
Which she, I am longing to
See.
The cold will soon put her out of misery
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rephrasing Love
My heart is broke
My face is numb
He. he caused my pain
Love, an evil heart breaker
Let me rephrase; love can
Be a heart breaker if...
Abused
Misused
Wasted
Tormented
Demolished
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sit, wait..... it can't be found
It's a vacation gone wrong
The cold chills my skin
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Waking up from a story
That I urge to remember
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hatred is a killer
Eating away the heart
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Overlook the horizon, it's a
Bright sunny day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's a sunny day
But I can still clearly see
Dark clouds, soon to come
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A gray fox walks by
The night before the snow comes
His footprints no more
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Death is a caterpillar,
Spinning a cocoon
Soon to turn to a butterfly
And fly free
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are a few I wrote back to my friend.
The stars in the sky
Shine upon my life
They do not care for human things
They just twist and spin
In the heavenly dance
And mock my clumsy
Walk through life
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Swirling, curling
Rising.
Curving, swerving,
Crash.
Again.
The wave comes high
Then crashes down
It is gone in a blink
Then is back again
A never-ending cycle.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Landing lightly,
Stepping softly,
Drinking slowly,
Leaving quickly,
Such is the life
Of a butterfly
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I enter the world of dreams
Always different, always the same
Anything comes in, a familiar face,
A certain place, but to take it out
Rarely happens to few, never to some
But all have them, all enter
The wonderful world of dreams
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It doesn't matter to me if you comment or not, but it does make you feel a little spark of joy that someone cared enough to talk about it. Enjoy.
