Collagen Cream

Collagen cream is meant to strengthen the lose skin and replenish the lost collagen in the skin cells. Scroll down to know more about this cream.
Collagen is a protein which makes up almost 80% of our skin. It is important for maintaining health and for retaining the vitality and strength of the internal organs. With age, the support structure of collagen goes through wear and tear. That is when the signs of aging become manifested. Needless to say, wrinkled and lose skin is one of the most evident signs of aging. However, ladies (for most part) you can surely heave a sigh of relief because there are numerous ways in which this issue can be dealt with. One of them is collagen cream.

What are collagen creams and how do they work?
These creams is believed to give strength to the skin and compensate the body for the lost collagen. Basically, according to experts, one molecule of collagen is too big to be absorbed by the skin. So, most of these creams do not get absorbed in the skin and sit on the surface of the skin. Consequently, when you wash your face, the cream too gets washed. This obviously renders the creams useless. Therefore, the two main types of collagen cream, known very commonly as anti-wrinkle or anti-aging creams have functional keratin. That is a combination of peptide proteins to help your body build collagen.

Collagen Creams for Skin
There are a few variations in collagen creams for skin. As mentioned earlier, there is an anti-aging cream and anti-wrinkle cream. Both these are for the face and fundamentally have the same objective. The objective is to prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles as a result of aging and excessive exposure to sun. One of the special claims about anti-aging cream is that it helps skin regain its suppleness and glow. One theory is that the alpha hydroxy acids contained in this skin cream are responsible for the suppleness. In addition to this you get special collagen creams for eyes to focus on the area around the eyes. It also works well if it is applied at night and left overnight. As collagen helps the skin get its elasticity back, another very common product made from collagen is stretch mark cream.

These were some of the claims made by those manufacturing a particular brand of collagen cream. Let's take stock of how tall these claims are.

Do Collagen Creams Work?
Well, for starters, a molecule of collagen is too big to be absorbed in the skin. Hence we get the answer to the effectiveness of this cream there itself. If the collagen would not penetrate the skin, how will it impact our skin? Okay, if someone claims to have experienced changes, the bliss is short lived and the effect very superficial. Most importantly, a collagen cream is no competition for our natural aging process and the collagen naturally found in our body. It is no Harry Potter wand people, to make us look 21 or 25 all our lives! The moral of the story, therefore, is that they for the most part are a waste of money. There are quite a few side effects of these creams as well. The skin can be plumped up and as the composition of this artificial collagen is not the same as the one naturally produced in our body, there is a lot of possibility that it is rejected by our body. To talk about the financial aspect, these creams are very expensive, giving a dent to your pockets. Last but not the least, these just work on the uppermost layer of our skin and do not penetrate deep. That means collagen creams for scars are not a very useful.

These are still observations and speculations. It is finally up to us to decide whether to use it or not. Personally, I feel adhering to a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise, drinking loads of water and the likes will keep you looking young! If nothing it will surely slow down the aging process! Take Care!
