Required Supplies

• Drip coffee filters (3 filters for 1 flower)
• Food coloring
• Small bowls filled with water
• Wooden skewers
• Green floral tape
• Craft Glue

Step-by-step Directions

Step # 1
First of all gather the supplies listed above and place them together. Cover the work space with spare newspapers. This will avoid staining the work area with food colorings. As you are working with kids, be very careful while using scissors and hair dryer. After all, safety is the first priority for you and your kids.

Step # 2
Decide the colors that you want to use for making coffee filter flowers. Then, in each of the small bowls, add 2-3 drops of a particular food coloring. Dip the coffee filters into the colored water and gently place them over a cookie sheet. You can leave them for drying on their own, or use a hair dyer to speed up the process.

Once the colored coffee filters are dry, you can start cutting them. Take one filter at a time; fold it in half to make a semi-circle, again fold it twice so that the shape resembles that of a narrow pie. Before the glue dries out, poke a hole at the center of the coffee filters with a wooden skewer. Pull skewer, so that the filters are nearly at the end side. Allow the glue to dry before you give a final touch to your filter flower. Repeat the same steps of stacking filters and inserting skewer for the remaining colored coffee filters.

With the skewer end at the center, scrunch the coffee filters together for each of the flower. Apply green tape at the base of the flower and also, wrap the whole length of the skewer with it.
