I somehow really had the same viewpoint and felt at least there was a certain section of girls out there that probably found fault with the oven, the kitchen, the neighbor, the grocery store who sold the packet of flour...Days spent in endless pursuits to please the guy next door, (because some wise person said a way to a man's heart is through his stomach) seemed worthless until I came across some really easy and mouth-watering recipes for cakes, and mind you, not just cakes, but coffee cakes!

A coffee flavored cake generally implies a coffee flavored cake or a simple cake that is served along with coffee. You can be innovative and add nuts or chocolate chips to make it interesting. Definitely a break from the regular kinds of cakes available, coffee cakes provide a welcome relief and will definitely pep you up to actually bake one yourself in the kitchen.

Apple Coffee Cake Recipe:
Butter (1/2 cup) / Margarine, softened
Sugar (2 cups granulated)
4 eggs
Flour (2 cups all-purpose)
Baking powder (2 teaspoons b)
Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
Apples (Peeled and chopped-5 cups)
Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
Granulated sugar (1-1/2 tablespoons)
Cinnamon (grounded - 1/2 teaspoon)

First, beat the butter at a medium speed using an electric mixer. Add the eggs whilst beating but do make sure you add it, one at a time. Also add sugar. Once you obtain a creamy mixture, add some flour, salt and baking powder. Mix some vanilla and apple extract.
Lubricate a 13 x 9-inch pan and spoon batter into it. Add some sugar and cinnamon over the cake batter. Now, bake it at 350 degrees F. You can serve this delicious apple coffee cake either warm or cool.

Cranberry Coffee Cake Recipe:
Butter or margarine (1 cup)
Granulated sugar (1 cup)
Self-rising flour (2 cups)
Eggs (2)
Container sour cream (8 ounce)
Chopped almonds (1/2 cup)
Teaspoon almond extract (1/2)
Berry cranberry sauce (1 cup whole)
Glaze

For the Glaze:
Sifted confectioners sugar (1 cup)
Milk (2 tablespoons)
Vanilla extract (1/2)

Now, combine all the ingredients. Stir till it turns smooth. Cream the butter and gradually add some sugar. Use the medium speed of the electric mixer. Now, the eggs can be added one at a time. Next, add some flour alternately with the sour cream. It is time to stir in the almond extract. Take a pan and pour the batter into it. Apply some cranberry sauce over batter. Now sprinkle with some almonds.

Bake the cake at 350 degrees F. You will require at least 40 minutes for it to be ready. Once it's ready, spoon the glaze over the cake.
