Cockroach Control Home Remedy
A cockroach control home remedy that works is something, that many would pay a lot of money for. However, considering that a cockroach infestation problem is suffering enough, here are some solutions for free!
Boric Acid which is a derivative of the element, boron, is a mineral-based inorganic pesticide. It is the most commonly used home remedy and is said to be very effective. It is comparatively nontoxic to people and pets, however, people should be cautious not to inhale it. The way in which it functions is, as a stomach poison which interferes with the insect’s metabolism. In addition, boric acid also abrades the exoskeleton and assists to desiccate the insects. If you are wondering where to get it, there are plenty of boric acid cockroach control products in the market, including dusts, baits and pastes. Cockroaches gather boric acid dust, and consequently ingest it while grooming themselves. If you use a bait, use it in conjunction with other methods of control. Home remedies for cockroach control, include a concoction of equal parts of flour, sugar and boric acid which is combined with a little bit of milk to make a paste. If you choose to use boric acid powder, ensure you do not use it in places, where it may fall into food or around food preparation areas. Be careful that children and pets do not eat any homemade boric acid baits.
Cockroach Control Natural Methods:
- A method that can prove to be highly effective is to spread some catnip in areas which are frequented by cockroaches, such as in the kitchen, around drains and dustbins. Apparently, they hate the smell!
- This one sounds too easy to be true! Make a solution of soap and water, and whenever you see a roach, treat it to a good spray, with the solution. As roaches breathe through their skin, the thin soap film that will form over them, will block their pores , and hopefully suffocate them to death. If that doesn't work, at least the buggers would have had a good bath. After all, if you cant get rid of them, you can ensure that they are clean.
- This one is a method that I really like, and you may too, if you are exasperated enough! If you are ready to try just about anything to get rid of cockroaches, bring home a gecko (it's a kind of lizard). This part is a little cruel, but if you want it to be effective, you have to starve the little guy. Then let him lose to hunt for his meal. In a week's time, your population of roaches should dwindle, and you should have one well-fed gecko. However, if you find his food supply running short (meaning your cockroach problem solved), feed him crickets. Read more on how to get rid of cockroaches.
