Cloud Number Nine

A dream of purest love.
I've been lounging on cloud number nine of late,
Would you care to climb aboard and recline with me?
Lay back in the warm softness of its eiderdown,
Take my company in your hand and walk through my dream.

And we can walk across the soft velvet green fields,
Or sip cold ale to cool the warm summer heat,
Or shade beneath the canopy of the forest's avenue,
Maybe rest up by the lakeshore to cool our burning feet.

We can join in the chorus as the song birds sing,
Or chase the rainbows back to their borealis home,
And drink fresh fallen raindrops from an acorn cup,
My sweet bonny lass, won't you dance me 'neath the moon?

And may the dark satin skies shine to match your eyes,
And the stars sparkle with the romance of Cupid's envy,
While the cool breeze of your breath steals a kiss from my lips,
A kiss that I shall willingly return to you, a plenty.

And shall I be allowed to hold you again tomorrow?
And will you allow me the privilege to make you happy?
And should your velvet gown slip down from my fingers,
Will you allow yourself to lose ourselves in Mother Nature's recipe?

When the time comes to break my reluctance to leave,
Won't you allow my fond excuses for my late departure?
For I peruse this book of poetry, I have been studying all this time,
And I feel that one step closer to your happy ever after.
