Clothes Your Teenage Daughter Needs This Christmas

Growing teens need new clothes to replace the ones they have outgrown. Teenage girls prefer clothes that are currently in fashion.

What their peers think of them is foremost in the minds of most teenagers. Teenage girls would certainly appreciate new clothes that let them fit in with the hip crowd. No girl likes being taunted by the other teens about her dressing.

Teenage years are a time of emotional upheaval. Raging hormones. The changing body, with the girl blossoming into a woman. Interest in boys. Interest from boys. Teens are particularly sensitive to what others think about their appearances. Dressing is very important to your teenage daughter.

Not all parents can afford a wardrobe full of the latest designer clothing for their teen, though I'm sure, if money were no object, all moms would want to give such a gift to their daughters.

However, practicality prevails. How can you stretch your modest budget so that your teen can look her best throughout the holiday season?

This season, the eighties fashion is back with a vengeance. Complete with oversized shoulder pads. Teens and young women who are too young to have known what the eighties were like are now wearing eighties fashion.

Can she wear your old clothes? Some of the dresses you wore in the eighties are in today. If she hasn't already raided your wardrobe, you could offer her your dresses from those days. In many circles, wearing your mom's clothes is uncool, so if your daughter is reluctant to wear hand-me-downs, don't fault her for it. It just isn't appropriate in her circumstances. Then again, her friends might think those outfits are cool, so let her go through your outfits and decide for herself whether she wants any of them.

For the Christmas season, if your budget is tight, just get her one dress. It doesn't have to be expensive to make her look her great. Does she look especially good in a particular color? Get her a dress in that color, which flatters her figure. She can then use accessories like belts, jewelry, wraps, and even jackets, coats, blazers and tights to change the look of the dress, so that she has a different outfit for every occasion.

If her feet have grown, she will need new shoes. If you can, get her a pair boots. Tall boots are big this season. A pair of high heel pumps that fit her now will be much appreciated during the holiday season. Getting both shoes and boots would give her a greater variety of outfits she could wear, based on her dress. She can instantly update her other clothes and make them trendy by accessorizing them with her new boots.

You could share your costume jewelry with her. Better still. Let her have some of your old favorites. These would go a long way in allowing her create new party looks that are hot this season.
