Clogged Pores and Acne Prevention

Our skin surface is amply supplied by hundreds of thousands of tiny pores that release small amounts of secretions on the surface to keep our skin soft and supple. To prevent acne, it is essential that these pores don’t get clogged.
If there is one aspect of beauty regimen that works wonders on anyone, it ought to be routine skincare. While most other beauty treatments tend to be more personalized, basic skincare keeps everyone from supermodels to office women on their toes. A multi-billion dollar industry has spun around the need to keep your skin nourished and healthy, and yet all you need to do to achieve that is a bit of consistency with some very simple, everyday tasks. Here we have collected some insight about how you can prevent acne by keeping your skin pores open.

One of the major problems that people encounter on their skins is clogged pores due to excessive buildup of secretions from the pores. The glands secrete sebum onto the skin surface which acts like a moisturizer and prevents the skin from drying up. Yet when the sebum is not actively removed from the surface, the buildup clogs the many pores on the surface. Clogged pores look bad on their own, but when left unattended, they can gradually lead to other complications like acne and skin infections.

To keep your skin looking clearer and clean, these clogs must be effectively cleansed even if the problem has not been severely acute. Acne patients complain of excess clogs which lead to ostensible blisters, spots and pimples. What’s more to it is that these clogs can provide suitable breeding grounds for bacteria. Regular cleansing prevents such serious problems like developing pimples, spots and blisters, and skin infections, which happen to be a major cause of most dermatologist appointments.

Acne-prone skins have special requirements when it comes to cleansing, and so using cleansers specifically made for acne can be a wise choice. Salicyclic acid is a compound which has a gentle and protective effect on skin surface, and prevents skin rashes and inflammation which may result from using harsher cleansers. Similarly, exfoliating scrubs need to be gentler in action with smaller beads and neutral pH, as excessive exfoliation can erode skin surface leading to skin damage.

While regular skin cleansing can clear away excessive sebum buildup, it leaves the skin dry and prone to damage. Therefore, using a moisturizer on and off is a worthy investment in your skincare regimen. Different skin types need different amount of moisturizing; what suits you depends on how oily your skin usually gets. If left dry for long, it can develop eczema, or skin dermatitis, due to irritation caused by dryness. In sunny conditions, using a sun screen lotion is a definite add-on, as sun damage can lead to rapid aging, skin cancer and permanent damage.
