Clinton Addresses Kashmir Issue

A thorn in the sides of both, India and Pakistan, the Kashmir issue has come under the limelight yet again...
Clinton Addresses Kashmir Issue
The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, on a three day trip to Pakistan, spoke out on the Kashmir issue, stating that the US is in full support of settlement, of the dispute between India and Pakistan, as soon as possible. In an interview with journalists in Islamabad, Clinton was said, "We know both countries have very strong feelings about this. We will keep making the case that finding an answer (to Kashmir) is very much in the interests of Pakistan and India."

Despite 3 wars between India and Pakistan, regarding the status of Kashmir, the dispute over this region continues. With both countries refusing to come to any agreement, the future of Kashmir remains grim. While India insists that Kashmir officially belongs to them, Pakistan is of the opinion that the people of Kashmir, should be the ones to decide, whom the region should belong to. Adding to the controversy is the fact, that some groups in Kashmir think that the state should be independent of both, India and Pakistan. The fact that China, controls 20% of Kashmir just makes things murkier and the problem more difficult to resolve.

With the efforts of the US government coming into the picture, will the conflict be put aside? Most Kashmiri people can only hope that the dispute over this region, which is plagued by constant war and terror, is solved as soon as possible, enabling this area to achieve a semblance of normalcy.
