Clearwater Baths - How They are Manufactured
Describes Clearwater baths as manufactured by Clearwater Revival Ltd, their manufacture and specification.
Clearwater Revival Ltd. manufacture double skin freestanding baths which can either take feet, have skirted outsides or sit in wooden or metal plinths.
The manufacturing process by which the baths are made is known as Vacuum Forming and proceeds as follows -
Two sheets of sanitary grade acrylic are placed above the inner and outer bath moulds in an oven and heated to approximately 180 degrees centigrade for about 10 minutes. When sufficiently softened the two bath molds are pushed up into the acrylic to form the rim of the bath and a vacuum switch is pressed which sucks the heated acrylic down into the molds. The newly formed bath is left in the mould for 5 minutes to cool down. Once cooled the bath 'shells' are taken out of the molds and quality checked. The inner shell includes the inset for where the plug is to be drilled and the outer skin includes the foot platforms where the feet or plinth will be attached to the bath (if it has them).
Next the two shells are reinforced by spraying glass fiber resin onto the back of the inner shell and the inside of the outer shell. A final reinforcement is provided by a Cormatt strength layer placed on top of the fiber glass. The Cormatt layer covers all the sides of the bath and is 3 times the thickness of the fiber glass. These extra layers of reinforcement provide the finished bath with its strength and complete rigidity.
To join the two skins together we use a stone cast resin mixture which not only holds the two shells together very securely but also adds substantial weight and gives total solidity to the bath. Once the cast has been poured, the two skins (inner and outer) are ready to be placed together and the edges of the bath are trimmed and finished.
The bath is now ready to go into the final finishing process. Both the inside and outside of the bath are rigorously inspected, over flow and waste holes are drilled and filled with top quality marine filler. The bath is polished throughout.
The bath is then specially packaged around the rim and base and then boxed ready for dispatch.
Clear water Revival manufacture a huge range of Clearwater baths with more than 10 traditional style baths and more than 30 contemporary baths. Included within these are 3 traditional slipper baths from 1520mm to 1750mm in length, 9 simple contemporary baths that go right down to the floor with no feet and no plinths, 7 baths with wooden plinths each available in maple, beech, cherry or dark stained oak veneers, and 13 baths each of which can be fitted with a choice of 9 different styles of feet including traditional and contemporary styles.
Baths can be supplied complete with all the kit required for plumbing them in including plug and chain, click-clack and pop-up wastes, standpipes and pipeshrouds in chrome or antique gold.
Most Clear water baths can be optionally fitted with the Clearwater Clearspa air spa system which blows thousands of tiny bubbles through your bath from hundreds of pin sized holes in the base of the bath. Clearwater baths are supplied with a white exterior but can also be supplied in a huge range of colours by the manufacturer or painted your self or by a professional painter and decorator. Clearwater can supply baths in more than 180 RAL colors, (type 'RAL Colors' into Google to find out what they are), as well as metallic silver and granite finishes. Baths can also be made to special order in soft cream or prgamon acrylic. Baths made from colored acrylic have the colour in the interior as well as the exterior of the bath. Pergamon is a traditional pinkish white.
