Home Remedies for Clear Skin
Exfoliation of the upper layer of dead skin and providing all the nutrients required for the health of the skin are two essential tips to keep the skin clean and clear. These points are described in short here.
Exfoliation
Shedding of dead skin cells is the first step of any skin care regime. Its purpose is to make the skin suitable for further steps of skin care. Only a clean skin with open and clear pores can absorb the nutrients provided to it. Therefore, exfoliation is very important. Take a tablespoon of gram flour, add half a teaspoon of yogurt to it and mix all the ingredients well to make a paste. Add 2-3 drops of lemon juice if you have oily skin otherwise 1-2 drops of glycerin. Apply it all over your face, allow it to dry for about 10-15 minutes. Scrub it off with plenty of cold water. This face mask works as a natural scrub. It exfoliates dead cells from the upper layer of the skin, along with removing oil, dirt and dust from the deeper layers. You may do it every alternate day in case of excessive production of oil. It is not recommended for more than twice a week for dry skin as it can increase dryness over time.
Nourishment
Once your skin is free from dead cells, dust and dirt, it is ready to absorb nutrients. The best way of providing nourishment to the skin is to eat healthy. Follow a balanced diet and make sure that you have three servings of fresh fruits and raw vegetables daily. This will provide you with minerals and vitamins for skin. Vitamin A, C and E are essential for the health of the skin. Proteins are required to maintain the regeneration power of the skin. Water acts like a tonic for skin and helps in detoxification and provides moisture. Drink plenty of water, around 8-10 glasses a day.
You may make all these nutrients available to your skin with the help of face masks. You may take a tablespoon of the pulp of any fruit, say papaya and mix it with 2-3 drops of honey and 1-2 drops of rose water. Spread this paste on your face and allow it to stay as such, for about 15-20 minutes. Wash it off well with water, preferably cold water. The honey and rose water present in the face mask will moisturize as well as tone your skin. You may use it as a daily skin care routine. It suits all skin types, whether normal, dry or oily. For best possible results, try this clear skin home remedy during the night.
There are some clear skin tips that needs to be followed on a day-to-day basis. Never go out in sun without sunscreen lotion on your skin. Protecting the skin from the harmful effects of sun is half the work done on natural skin care. Secondly, never allow dust or dirt to accumulate on your skin. Wash it at least two times a day. However, cleaning the skin every now and then is also not recommendable. It will remove the natural oils and moisture from your skin, making it dull and lifeless. Thirdly, keep yourself relaxed, calm and restful as far as possible. Take enough rest everyday and try to sleep well for about 6-8 hours at night.
