Give the children a lump of ready-mixed clay. The first step is to soften the clay by kneading it thoroughly, help your child in doing this. For this, push it against the table and squeeze it several times. This will make the job of molding easier. Materials Required

Procedure
Write your kid's name on a piece of paper. The letters of the alphabet should be at least four inches tall and have double borders of half inch. Now take clay lump and knead it properly to form soft clay lump. Now ask your kid to make long pieces of clay, thick as much as the fingers. Now form the strips of clay into letters shape, by placing it on the written letters. Teach them once how to take help of the written letters to have the right shape. Once they are dried, kids can paint them in their favorite colors. Place the formed letters in proper order to form their name, you can try sticking it on thick construction paper. Materials Required

• Plastic bucket, basket or large bowl
• Water
• Paper clips
• Marbles or pennies

Procedure
Fill a bucket, basket or a large bowl with water. Place plastic table covering if you are placing it on a table. Now take a lump and knead it well before you start the project. Ask them to try shaping the clay into different kinds of boats. You can have boat pictures in front of them as a help. Make sure the base is broad enough. Try floating them in water, you will have to experiment with the shape until one floats properly in the water. Make a few such boats. Further you can experiment how many pennies, paper clips, or marbles this boat can carry without sinking. You can increase the size to check its capacity of carrying marbles. Believe me this will be an exciting exercise for the kids. You can paint these boats in oil paints, help your kids in this. And place all the boats in water and place the marbles in the water and decorate the basket to have a beautiful craft work ready.
