Aiken’s rep confirmed that he and his platonic best friend Foster welcomed a son in North Carolina on Friday. Foster, whose age has just been revealed to be around 50, delivered son Parker Foster Aiken at 8:08 a.m. Friday. The baby weighed in at 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 19 inches long. Aiken’s mother, Faye, said that the baby has dark hair and not her son’s fiery red hair. Both mother and baby are reportedly doing well.
Foster’s brother, David, first confirmed news of the pregnancy in March. At the time a rep for David said, "The story is true. It is true that Clay is the father. She was artificially inseminated by Clay. She’s due in August." Aiken and Foster have been friends since meeting on the American Idol set. She was the executive producer for his album A Thousand Different Ways and contributed to his album On My Way Here.
The couple is not romantically involved, but they do live together when he is in Los Angeles and plan to raise the baby together. Questions of Aiken’s sexuality have surrounded the singer since Idol. He has constantly avoided the questions and said, "People don’t want that type of stuff pushed, people who are living in Omaha or in Charlotte or wherever." He added, "They don’t want stuff like that pushed in their face. I don’t think that’s necessary and that’s also not what I’m here for. I mean, I went on Idol to be a singer, I went on Idol to be an entertainer and that’s what my priority is."
