Classroom Management Plan

According to me, classroom management is the main component in any educational setting. Classroom management involves setting up a decorum for the class so that learning can take place effectively. It includes discipline of the class, behavior of the students, interaction with teachers and the right environment where students can be educated completely. Organizing these things effectively can be possible, if there is a proper plan and if you are potent enough to execute the plans. To maintain sanity and create a peaceful environment, there are different strategies of classroom management.

Classroom Management Strategies

Classroom management does not mean only discipline. It includes infrastructure of the class and also the capability of tutors to win the hearts of students. Initially, teachers might face problems of classroom management if the environment is completely new to them. Classroom management plans differ with the nature of class, the age of students and student-teacher interaction.

Interactive Measures
Discuss the expectations of your students on the first day itself. Let them express their views and observe their behavior. Set standard rules keeping into account their needs. List them down. After you have shown your consideration for their expectations, you should also set up guidelines regarding what the class should follow. This includes your method of teaching, deadlines for syllabus completion, attendance of the class, behavior of students, weekly feedback and overall performance of the students. The classroom must be interactive, so that a healthy relationship is maintained between teachers and students.

Enforcement of Rules
The management system should enforce a set of rules to maintain a code of conduct in class. In case students misbehave and violet the rules, you should remind them the guidelines so that they don't repeat. Remain close quarters with them and observe their behavior. The rules are just a piece written, but the role of teacher to enforce the set of rules at right time in the right direction is important. Make the rules flexible depending upon the conduct of the students.

Classroom Management Discipline
Discipline is the most important thing in a classroom to handle students. You must have a hold over your students. Your personality and gestures matters a lot to earn respect from your students. You can use non verbal gestures with subtle eye contact to express your disapproval for any kind of behavior. You must keep an eye on every student and their individual performance. Use proximity to channelize students who fail to do their classwork regularly. Talk to your students personally if they are suffering from any personal problems that is hampering their performance in classroom.

Specify Consequences
Plan the consequences ahead of any problems. School students must not be allowed to bring expensive gadgets at classroom. Warn them if they do not abide by the rules. Isolation from the rest of the class is a good penalty or implement strict rules, like suspension if they repeat their unruly behavior. You can also sign a contract with your students at personal level for behavior management.

Entertainment Session
Students can enjoy education if entertainment is a part of it. Educational entertainment ideas like debate, elocution, extempore or quiz keep students active. Conduction games, birthday celebration, creativity exhibitions at least once a week keeps them lively and fresh. You can arrange them in groups and elect a group leader to direct the group. This way you can improve relationship with your students.

A classroom management plan depends on your leadership qualities, management skills and your capabilities to deal with your students. You must plan all objectives to gain a sense of appreciation from your students. You must play the role of a friend, philosopher and guide for your students.
