When it comes to decorating a classroom for kiddies, more efforts need to be put as every kid has a different taste and outlook. So the first step towards decorating a classroom is to find ways to decorate it in such a way that all kids, both boys and girls, can like it. A classroom can also be used to impart knowledge, which is related to the syllabus but more interesting than it. You can make use of the walls for it. The following classroom decorations for teachers will tell you how exactly to do it.
Classroom Decoration Ideas
For convenience, let's divide the classroom decorations into three parts; the decoration of the walls, the lighting and the decoration of the bulletin board.
Decoration of the Classroom Walls
Walls are the first thing one realizes after coming in the room. So while decorating the classroom, lets us think the various ways to decorate the walls. Children love to participate in activities which are not related to studies! So you can take your students' help to decorate walls by asking them to paint whatever they feel like on sheets of papers, stick these papers randomly on the walls. This way, the walls get decorated, kids will have fun, get to express their self, and most importantly, the classroom will get a personal touch, the kids will feel attached to the classroom as they have decorated it themselves!
You can also decorate the walls using different classroom posters and wall stickers. The posters can be revolve around a theme, like the ongoing season, important event of that particular month (like a festival), or interesting trivia regarding their syllabus etc. Another way of decorating walls is to make collages of different photographs that were previously clicked during field visits, picnics, exhibitions etc. The teachers can stick humorous comments below each photo.
Classroom Lighting
Lighting also plays an important role in the outlook of any room. The lighting arrangement of the classroom will obviously depend on the location of the classroom. If the classroom is too bright, put thick curtains and have warm colored lamps instead of the harsh fluorescent colored bulbs. If the classroom is situated in a basement or a somewhere light can't come in easily, have light pink, lemon, mauve colored curtains and a few blue, yellow lamps that are subtle yet bright. Lamps give an entirely new look to any place.
During festivals you can decorate the room with sparkling icicle lights and electric candles. This will help to bring a festive look to the place. You can also ask the kids to make paper lamps, and hang them all over the classroom.
Decoration of the Bulletin Board
You can make the maximum use of your creativity for decorating the bulletin board. The bulletin board can be the most boring or the most interesting thing in the class, depending on how you present it. You can use different classroom themes for decorating the bulletin board, like fill the board with pictures of colorful flowers and birds in spring or pictures of winter in different in various countries during the winter season etc. You can also decorate the bulletin in accordance to the subject you teach like maths teachers can stick the main signs of maths as the border and fill the bulletin board with interesting puzzles with one or two hints. Ask all the kids to try to solve the puzzles, when the whole class gets the puzzles right, you can replace the puzzles with more brain teasers etc.
