Cityscape Electric

When Electric Cars Take Over the City
Standing on the street corner
I hear no sound
I could be in a clean room
Or even underground
All this traffic
Not a motor around

A faint swoosh here
A quiet purr there
Where ‘o where
Is the rumbling and blare
Of the gasoline engine
The motor of yore
Now that the
Electric is your

Mode of transport
All hushed and smooth
But without the heart
That came from the crude
Gas powered vehicles
That grappled and roared
And came to life
When your foot hit the floor

Standing on the street corner
Your eyes no longer burn
From carbon and fumes
And everywhere you turn
Is a quiet vehicle
Passing you by
The music is gone
No matter how hard you try
An electric vehicle
Is the kind you’re going to buy
