The circulatory system of the human body is the mechanism through which blood is transported to various parts of the body. The physical indication that this system is working properly is the beating of the human heart. With each single heartbeat, the heart transports blood to the entire body. The average rate of heartbeat in a normal person is 72 beats per minute, so one can imagine the vast quantity of blood that is transported within the body in one entire day. An amount of blood present in the human body is about 7% of body weight. Also, the body processes about 2,000 gallons of blood and through the course of one day this blood travels to-and-fro within the body, covering an average of about 60,000 miles within the blood vessels of the body.

Organs in the Circulatory System

Primarily speaking, there are three basic components of the circulatory system. The heart, which serves as a pump; the blood vessels, which carry the blood throughout the body; and lastly, the blood, which is a vital component for the basic functioning of the human body, and which is processed after the intake of oxygen into the human lungs from the atmosphere.

There are two circulatory divisions that are simultaneously functioning within the human body at all times. The pulmonary circulation transports the blood to the heart from the lungs, and vice versa. The rest of the body is not involved in this process. And secondly the systemic circulation, which carries the blood from the heart to the rest of the body and vice versa. Both these circulatory units function at the same time, and carry out the complex and rapid circulation of blood within the human body.

Heart
The human heart is one of the most fascinating and crucial organs in the human body. The main task that it carries out is the pumping of blood within the body, constantly receiving, purifying, and dishing out blood to various parts of the body. Symbolically speaking the human heart is the container of life for all human beings. Anatomically speaking, this is a completely accurate projection, as without the heart, the human body will simply perish. The necessity of blood in every organ is so intense, that a few minutes without this viscous fluid and that organ will begin to deteriorate.

The human heart is located roughly in the center cavity of the chest, and is divided into 4 chambers - the left atrium, the right atrium, the left ventricle, and the right ventricle. These chambers perform their own individual functions independently, and thus the heart pumps oxygenated blood to the body, and de-oxygenated blood back to the lungs.

Lungs
There are 2 lungs in the human body, and their task is to supply oxygen to the heart. The intake of air while breathing is carried out by the lungs, and this oxygen is then added into the blood and then transported to the heart. Conversely, impure blood is transported to the lungs via the heart, and this blood is then oxygenated and the remaining components are released back into the air.

Blood and Blood Vessels
Technically speaking these are not organs, but their presence is essential for the respiratory system and the circulatory system of the body. The blood vessels are stretched out to every single part of the body and there are hundreds of thousands of these vessels intertwined in an endless network within the body. The arteries carry pure blood from the heart to the body parts and the veins carry impure blood from the body parts back to the heart. The left and the right side of the heart are divided by a wall known as the septum, and the arteries are connected to the right side of the heart, while the veins connect to the left side.

Without the proper working of this vital mechanism, the human body will decay and perish in no time.
