In a bowl, sift dry ingredients and cut in shortening. Make a stiff dough by just adding enough buttermilk. On a floured surface knead lightly and roll the dough into a rectangle. Spread the rectangle dough with butter and sprinkle with the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Now roll the dough up into jelly roll like fashion and cut into 12 slices. Place slices in a buttered and sugar sprinkled 8 x 8 inch pan. Bake at 475° for 15 to 20 minutes, until brown. Serve.

- ¼ cup shortening

- 2/3 to 3/4 cup milk

- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tube of crescent rolls
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored and cut into 8 wedges each
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- ¼ cup water
Combine cinnamon and sugar and set aside. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle in half lengthwise and make 16 triangular strips.
