Homemade Cinnamon Rolls from Scratch
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup warm water
- ¼ cup butter, melted
- ½ package instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 egg, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 4 cups bread flour
- 1 package active dry yeast
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¾ cup chopped pecans
- ½ package cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ teaspoons milk
In the pan of bread machine, mix water, melted butter, vanilla pudding, warm milk, egg, sugar, salt, bread flour and yeast. Set the bread machine to dough cycle and press start. When the cycle has finished, turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a 17x10 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over the dough. In a small bowl, stir brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans. Sprinkle this cinnamon mixture over dough. Begin rolling up the dough with long side. Slice into 16 one inch slices and place in 9 x 13 buttered pan. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled for about 45 minutes. In the mean time, preheat oven to 350º F. Bake the risen rolls in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes. As the rolls are baking, stir cream cheese, softened butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla and milk. Once done, remove rolls from oven and top with frosting.
Easy Cinnamon Rolls from Scratch
Ingredients
- 2 cups of warm water
- ½ cup sugar
- 4 teaspoons dry yeast
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup cooking oil
- 6 to 7 cups of flour
Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for a minute or two. Then add sugar and salt to yeast and mix. Add the cooking oil, eggs and 2 cups of flour and beat until smooth. Stir in 3 more cups of flour and knead the dough, adding the final cup of flour. If the dough is too sticky, knead in more flour, a quarter to a half cup at a time. Let the dough stand for 15 to 20 minutes. Then roll the dough into a rectangle that is about 24 to 30 inches long by 16 inches width. Spread soft butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar on the dough. Starting at the wide end roll the dough, cut the cinnamon rolls into one inch slices and place into two greased 9 x 13 pans. Put in a warm place to rise for 45 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes until the cinnamon rolls are golden brown. Allow to cool for 5 minutes and then turn out of the pans.
