Chronic Sinusitis Treatment

The treatment procedure of chronic sinusitis involves methods for managing the symptoms of the condition and also eliminating the underlying cause.
The inflammation and swelling of the sinuses is what characterizes the condition of chronic sinusitis. It causes interference with the drainage and thus, leads to a build up of mucus. Also known as chronic rhinosinusitis, this ailment restricts the sufferer to breathe properly through his nose. When immediate medical treatment remains unavailable, then one can take up the following self-care measures to stabilize the condition:
  • Pungent foods such as onions and garlic have been an age-old sinus pressure home remedy. Start off with mild doses and gradually go for more. Adding these natural medicines to your regular meals, does a lot in treating the condition.
  • Get a teaspoon full of fenugreek seeds and boil them in two 250 ml of water. Boil until the water has been reduced into half. This decoction helps in producing perspiration and healing the body from within. Take 4 cups of this medicinal tea daily and reduce the amount as you begin to heal.
  • Get about a pinch of black cumin seeds and tie them in a thin cotton cloth. Placing the tied part of the cloth in one nostril, block the other and inhale taking a deep breath. It may sting initially but you will get great relief from the irritation and blockage.
  • One more method for treating chronic sinusitis naturally is using a mixture of ground and roasted cumin seeds and pure honey. Take this mixture regularly and relieve your discomfort.
  • Make a juice out of carrots, cucumber, spinach or beet. It may taste horrible, but it is more than beneficial in taking care of your sinus problem.
And to conclude, add foods rich in vitamin A to your diet. This vitamin possess the quality of building healthy mucus membranes which line the throat and nose. Also, vitamin C can do wonders in managing the symptoms of chronic sinusitis. It is best when vitamin C is taken in the form of supplements.
