Christmas Spirit
A Christmas message.

To see the frost sprinkled on the ground,
I felt the chill of Yuletide shivers,
Creep through my bones without a sound,
In the distance, a church bell peeling,
Split the silence with its eerie toll,
A choir of voices, in celebration,
Did herald this morning in style.
Burn a log and light a candle,
To brighten up your festive cheer,
Holly decked across the mantle,
All the homely comforts there,
The goose is warming up quite nicely,
Serve it with sprouts and cranberry sauce,
Get tucked in, you deserve it,
No need to fear Marley's ghost.
Pour me out a golden toddy,
And I shall toast the world's health,
And you can sing a Christmas carol,
In praise of our meager wealth,
And let's be honest, there are people out there,
In a far worse state than us,
Don't think of their plight as they battle frostbite,
For that may spoil your Christmas.
Whatever happened to the time for giving,
Peace on earth, goodwill to all men?
The cold of winter spreads its misery,
Weaves it's veil to hide away the pain,
And sometimes, when in the party spirit,
We forget to take the time to think,
I'm not one to spoil your merrymaking,
But Christmas spirit is not just what you drink.
