Christian Bale: No Assault Charges

The Crown Prosecution Service released a statement Thursday saying that no charges will be filed against the actor due to "insufficient evidence to enable a realistic prospect of conviction" and ordered to take no further action in the case. A rep for the Metropolitan Police reportedly said, "On the advice of the Cps we shall be taking nor further action. We will not be commenting further."

Bale, 34, was arrested last month after his mother and sister reported to the police that Bale had assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel in London on July 20 before the premiere of his latest movie The Dark Knight in the U.K. There was reportedly an argument that turned ugly. Bale turned himself into a London police station for questioning. It is customary in England to arrest a suspect before questioning them in connection to an alleged crime. He was questioned and then released on bail pending further investigation. He was ordered to return to court sometime in September, but now it won’t be necessary. Bale has denied that the assault took place and has refused to talk about the incident. He has asked for the media to "respect his privacy."

Bale got his first big break as a 13-year old child actor in Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun in 1987. He has starred in a number of films including American Psycho, The Machinist, Rescue Dawn, The Prestige, and Batman Begins. He married former model Sibi Blazic in 2000 and the couple has a 3-year old daughter Emmaline.
