Christian Bale Denies Assault Charges

Bale, 34, turned himself into a London police station to be questioned after his mother, Jenny, and sister, Sharon, reported that he had assaulted him on Sunday. It is customary in England to arrest a suspect before questioning them in connection to a crime. It has been reported that Jenny, 61, and Sharon, 40, reported that Bale had assaulted them at London’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday before the premiere of his hit film The Dark Knight in the U.K. The two women reported that incident on Monday and the case was then turned over to officers.

Bale has denied any wrongdoing and his attorney released a statement Tuesday that read, "Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister." The statement continued saying, "Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, cooperated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale." He is reportedly due back to the police station in September.

Bale’s sister Sharon said of the incident, "The police are dealing with it. It is an extremely sensitive situation. There is nothing more I can say." His mother added that they did not call the police to the scene and said, "Yes, I was there, and yes there was a family situation, but the police are handling it and I cannot say anymore at the moment." Bale has been married to former model Sibi Blazic since 2000 and the couple has a 3 year old daughter Emmaline. He is best known for his roles in the films American Psycho, The Machinist, The Prestige, and 3:10 to Yuma.
