Chris Brown Will Not Be Performing at Jackson Tribute
Despite rumors to the contrary, beleaguered singer Chris Brown is not slated to perform at a Michael Jackson tribute concert in Austria.
Though promoters for a Michael Jackson tribute concert to take place in Austria have noted otherwise, Chris Brown will not perform at the tribute. The news came from an undisclosed source yesterday evening, who offered information in exchange for anonymity because the source was not authorized to speak about situation. According to the source, at no point did Brown commit to doing the concert. In addition, concert promoters said Tuesday that Brown, Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole and Akon were confirmed artists at the show, but Blige’s publicist has noted that her client will also not be performing at the show due to a prior commitment.
The big tribute concert was first announced last month by Michael Jackson’s brother Jermaine while appearing on "Larry King Live" and, despite the news, Jermaine insisted that he felt confident that Brown would appear at the show. It has yet to be determined if Brown is actually allowed to travel to Austria, however, and concert promoter Georg Kindel has noted that a judge in L.A. was set to rule on the matter last night.
Despite that, there seems to be ongoing confusion, as a court spokeswoman noted that nothing had been filed on behalf of Brown so that he could be at the concert, while another source close to Brown confirmed that no motion would be filed. Said Jermaine Jackson yesterday of the young singer, "Chris Brown is working out some situations but he definitely expressed to us that he wants to be here and it’s just up to what he’s going through with his court case right now but he’s definitely going to work that out and be here."
