Chris Brown Posts YouTube Video and Gets Sued by Photog
Chris Brown chose to make a short YouTube video to issue his first public statements since his arrest for allegedly beating his girlfriend, Rihanna.
Chris Brown's current legal troubles are well documented and are growing by the day. On the same day that he posted a video to YouTube in response to the charges currently filed against him in the Rihanna case, Brown was sued by a paparazzo who claims that he was assaulted by members of Brown's security after taking pictures of him at a Los Angeles area gym.
Brown's attorneys have been quick to dismiss the latest lawsuit and seem confident that they can beat it. Apparently, the same paparazzo filed a similar suit against Pierce Brosnan in 2007 and that suit was eventually dismissed. Given the timing of the filing, it seems as though the photographer may be hoping to capitalize on public sentiment swinging against Brown and gambling that his legal team may have simply chosen to settle the suit quickly to make it go away.
The odd YouTube video that featured Brown seems to have been shot at a bowling alley and he spoke at some length about his upcoming album and a single that will be released over the summer. He briefly addressed the Rihanna situation, saying that he was not a monster. He also said that he loved his fans and that those that have been haters are simply going to continue to be haters, regardless of the facts.
It doesn't appear as though a tremendous amount of thought went into the video, although that may have been the plan. Brown can ease himself back into the consciousness of his fan base with short messages like this one, while at the same time promoting his new album and generating some viral buzz. The real test will come in a Los Angeles courtroom when Brown will face felony charges stemming from his alleged beating of Rihanna. Brown didn't mention Rihanna in his YouTube post.
