Chris Brown Issues Statement, Apologizes for Incident with Rihanna
Chris Brown broke spoke through a public relations firm about his incident with Rihanna, expressing remorse and trying to calm the swirling rumors.
It has been over a week since Chris Brown turned himself in to Los Angeles police on charges of making criminal threats, but he is just now speaking out about the incident. He has hired a public relations firm that is believed to specialize in handling serious crises - and this would certainly amount to one for the once-loved singer and performer. Brown has issued a statement saying that he is both saddened and sorry for the incident that occurred with Rihanna. He has stated that he is seeking counseling and the advice of his pastor and his family.
The statement went on to address various rumors in blogs and the media that Brown may have already posted statements via a Facebook page or perhaps through other outlets. Brown's statement referred to those things as "fraudulent" and claimed that he had nothing to do with any prior statements made regarding the incident.
Rihanna's father was also speaking about the incident recently, claiming that he hopes his daughter will simply move on from the incident and use it as an opportunity to empower women around the world. It is believed that the Los Angeles district attorney's office is still compiling its case against Chris Brown and it is unclear at this time whether additional charges will be filed.
It will be interesting to see how the legal angles begin to unfold in this case, since Brown is such a valuable asset to so many powerful players in the music industry. It is difficult to imagine him serving jail time for the incident, but if the details paint an especially violent image of the events of the evening, there may be no other resolution possible.
